We will be having events throughout the year such as managing and maintaining the orchard and Saunders Richardson wood. We will be needing volunteers to help with jobs such as pruning, tending to the hedges, flower beds and nature stations - look out for these days, we will post them HERE .
We are also having two events in the village to help bring awareness to the residents of Shipton Gorge of what we are doing as well as recruit new members and fund raise. There will be an Open Garden by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Robert Langran and our first Apple Day.
Apple Day - We are joining the National Apple Day which is the weekend of 22nd and 23rd October - we have chosen to have it on the Sunday.
There will be stalls with produce made from the apples grown in our orchard and also plenty of things for children to do such as a treasure hunt, games themed on apples, apple bobbing and an area for children to make homes for insects and wildlife....and much, much more.
SGHL are having for the first time ever an Apprle Day to celebrate the British apple and apple orchards in conjunction with the annual National Apple Day. There will be fun and frolics for all the family from biulding your own BEE B&B to cider tasting from our local West Milton Cider Co. There will be homemade ploughman's lunches, apple pie and ice cream, apple bobbing and dunking aswell as produce stalls, toffee apples, quizes and a nature trail and plenty of games. There will be advice on hand for those wanting to plant an apple tree or how to bring nature into your garden. So please spread the word and put the date in your diary for Sunday 23rd October.
